APDA defers stir

ITANAGAR, Dec 20: The Central Executive body of Arunachal Pradesh Doctors' Association (APDA) in an emergency meeting today unanimously decided to  defer the proposed  mass casual leave throughout the state on Dec 26 and 27  after the  assurance from Chief Secretary and  health Secretary to fulfill its demand.

The APDA in a release today informed that the chief secretary assured a delegation of the Association  that the DPC for time bound promotion to be conducted on  Dec 24 for those having requisite number of ACRs. For rest, pending ACRs will be collected on war footing and all pending DPC for Time Bound Promotion (TBP) will be completed by 31st of January 2014. The Chief Secretary and the Secretary Health assured to assist officers with missing ACRs in completing the ACR timely for the purpose, the Association said in its release.

He also assured to streamline the routing of ACR so that discrepancies regarding ACR of officers are minimized in future, the release said.

The release further said that the CS assured to take up with the Government strongly regarding current trend of appointment of District Medical Officers (DMO)/Deputy Director Health Services (DDHS) outside the DPC by pick and choose method and agreed that all appointment of DMO/DDHS should be as per the APHS Cadre rule 2000 through DPC.

 

PPA demands action against assaulter of college teacher

ITANAGAR, Dec 20: The physical assault of DNGC's Political Science Assistant Professor Dr.  Aruna Gyati Lod by a student of her own college shows how our education system has deviated from Swami Vivekananda's  ideal of education-'what we want is not just book learning education, what is important is character building and man making education,' lamented Kamen Ringu, Chairman Central Working Committee, PPA.

Sadly, education has never been a high priority agenda in any Indian Political Party's manifesto, resulting in growing innate intelligence but abysmally low growth of wisdom- buddhi. This is both the cause and effect of our total indifference towards education. Today our society lives in a moral vacuum, added Ringu.

Appropriate measures should be initiated by the Govt. to prevent such untoward incidents happening in the future within the campus, said Nikh Kamin, President PPA.

 

Union calls for suspension of officers and police

ITANAGAR, Dec 20:  Squarely blaming at the district administration and police personnel in protecting the electoral roll of the entire Kurung Kumey district, All Kurung Kumey District Students Union (AKKDSU) today strongly called for the suspension of deputy commissioner, superintendent of police and police personnel. In a release AKKDSU stated that three police on duty, the deputy commissioner and the superintendent of police should be suspended as they failed to perform their duty in protecting the electoral roll. The union also questioned the both DC and SP for engaging less staffs and police in escorting the electoral roll despite knowing the sensitivity of the issue. It further added that burning of electoral roll by miscreants occurred due to inefficient administrator and police of the district. Further it strongly opposed the excess enrollment of electoral roll during the summary revision in the district adding that the union will not tolerate enrollment of non-APST without valid reason. It also strongly opposed the issue of temporary inner line pass(ILP) during the  hearing process and requested the authority to halt the ILP till the completion of the hearing process.

 

Woman injured in accident

ITANAGAR, Dec 20: The All Arunachal Pradesh Unemployment Civil Engineering Association (AAPUCEA) in a press statement claimed that on 16th December the vehicle belonging to Kurung Kumey deputy commissioner during a freak accident hit one Tam Yaying at Koloriang. According to AAPUCEA, "around 10.30 am some electricians were carrying out repairing work near DC office. The electric cable lying on the road was pulled by Bolero vehicle and cable hit Yaying, throwing her to some distance. She received grievous injury and is currently admitted at RKM Hospital."

The association claimed that an FIR has been lodged against DC at Koloriang PS in this regard. They have appealed to the women commission to look into the matter.

 

Villagers resolve to oppose administration's proposal

ITANAGAR, Dec 20: The villagers, gaon burahs and former PRI members of Pakke-Kessang circle in East Kameng district had resolved to oppose the district administration's proposal for beginning of works under Trans-Arunachal Highway (TAH) till their demands are met.

In its representation submitted to the deputy commissioner East Kameng, the villagers demanded to halt the construction works of proposed TAH from Pallov to Khodaso village. It also demanded for proper demarcation with fixing up of center line for reassessment of affected properties.

Further the affected people sought the authority to constitute village level committee instead of single separate committee to avoid misappropriation and irregularities. It also urged the authority to identify the persons whom compensation has been given despite being their properties do not fall under TAH affected area.

 

District level farmers' training on small tea growers

CHANGLANG, Dec 20: The department of agriculture, Changlang, conducted "District Level Farmers' Training on Small Tea Growers" yesterday. Altogether 50 farmers, male and female, attended the training from various villages of Changlang district.

Field demonstration on tea cultivation was given at New Changlang village and the women farmers were trained on livestock and poultry farming and marketing by the Block Technology Manager (BTM) and Subject Matter Specialist (SMS).

Marina Kenglang, Changlang ZP Chairperson urged the small tea growers to convert tea cultivation into family tradition involving every member of the family, since, tea has been familiar to our society since time immemorial. It would boost the  rural economy.

The programme was initiated by A.D. Panggam, the District Agriculture Officer, he explained in detail on the purpose of the training. The event was coordinated and cooperated by D.K. Bora along with his team of two ADOs, V. Sing, Tato and two SMS and BTM. DIPRO

 

AAPAWS foundation day celebrated

ITANAGAR, Dec 20: 6th All Ato Paktu Ao Welfare Society foundation day was celebrated at Paktu Linn site Aalo, West Siang District today.

On the occasion,  Moji Bagra, Secretary General AAPAWS stated that the Paktu Heritage centre would be the hub of Paktu people in particular, Galo, state and the country in general.

While appreciating the GWS team led by its President Dr. Imi Rumi and Secretary General Mokir Ori, Doi Ado President All Ato Paktu Ao Welfare Society said that this is a good initiative of the duo leaders to normalize the differences of the Galo Society.

ITANAGAR, DEC 20: On Dec 19 last this daily published a report - "Bengia Hemanto conferred lifetime achievement award" informing that the festival also awarded audio albums from five districts of the state which was published as first, second and third etc in a chronological order. However, it was a district wise producer achievement award for those pioneers ever produced in their own district. The objective was to recognise them as torch bearer instead of categorizing as first, second or third etc. At the same festival T G Tara was also conferred achievement award distinguishing him as the first local to become producer and director which was not included in the news story. Rs 66 lakhs looted in broad daylight

ITANAGAR, Dec 20:  Even before the Capital Complex Police was heaving a sigh of relief over solving the December five Arunachal Pradesh Rural Bank robbery case, another robbery incident reportedly occurred today in broad daylight at NERIST gate in Nirjuli leaving police red faced.

According to police source, robbery occurred around 1pm when SBI staffs along with its security guard were getting down from the car to deposit the cash amount of Rs 66 lakhs (in approx) in the ATM Booth.  The three unidentified youths overpowered the SBI staffs and lone security guard at gun point and fled from the scene with cash bags on motorcycle, police source added. The sources also claimed that bank authority did not ask for security guard to escort cash bag. A robbery case has been registered with Naharlagun police station, sources said.

Meanwhile, when enquired about the robbery incident by this daily for more details, Capital Complex SP Seiju P. Kuruvilla while refusing to make any statement, made a bizarre comment by saying that ‘engage your own man to get detail information, (Apna aadmi laga ke pata karlo kiya hua hai wahan)’.

It is worth mentioning here that earlier in November 2012, armed miscreants looted Rs.4.5 lakh from the same Rural bank branch. On December 1, 2012, the Axis Bank, Itanagar branch was looted of Rs 18 lakhs by the bank's private security personnel when they went to deposit cash at the ATM. Later Rs 11 lakh was recovered, police said. In 2011, miscreants looted an amount of Rs 22 lakh from the Axis Bank ATM at Naharlagun when the security agency was depositing the cash.

 

Two arrested in Rural Bank robbery case

ITANAGAR, Dec 20: In a major breakthrough, the Capital Police arrested two accused involved in  the  December five Arunachal Pradesh Rural Bank Ganga branch robbery case.

The police also recovered an amount of Rs. 6,43,000  from  the  possession of one of the arrested accused.

A group of three miscreants armed with small firearms and lethal weapons entered the rural bank branch located at busy area near Ramakrishna Mission Hospital here on December 5 last and looted Rs 28 lakh at gun point.

According to a press statement issued by Capital SP Seiju P. Kuruvilla, a police investigating team led by Inspector Tabi Bage, OC PS Itanagar and SI Tapun Messar, I/O of the case under the supervision of SP Capital, SDPO Itanagar arrested one Tapo Marde, 22, of Marde village under Dumporijo police station  on December 18.  The arrested person was put under an intensive and strenuous interrogation and finally admitted his direct involvement in the case with two other accomplices namely Gichik Tasung and Lingdum Kon. The arrested culprit further informed the police that the entire operation of bank robbery was the brain-work of one Hiba Tajuk who hatched conspiracy with them and also provided small fire-arm  for execution of the operation in a fool proved manner, the release informed. On the basis of the disclosure, Hiba Tajuk, 28, of Lorputung Village under Itanagar police station was arrested on  December 19 and an amount of Rs. 6,43,000 was recovered from his possession.

It also revealed that Hiba Tajuk was earlier arrested for his direct involvement in Axis Bank Robbery case of Naharlagun reported at PS Naharlagun vide Case No. 151/2011 and ultimately got enlarged on bail.  

Efforts are on to nab the remaining two culprits  viz. Gichik Tasung and Lingdum Kon who are absconding and evading police view. Capital Police are on toes to put them behind the bar within a very short time, the release added.

 

 

Governor assures Longding people of cooperation for prosperity

‘Instill a sense of security amongst denizens’

ITANAGAR, Dec 20: Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Lt. Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma assured the people of Longding district that he is with them and will work for their progress and prosperity. Addressing a huge public meeting at Longding on 20th December 2013, Governor expressed his appreciation that people are standing against insurgency which has been an impediment in development of the district and State.

During his maiden visit to the district, Governor pointed that wherever the local people and security forces come together, there will be peace and prosperity. He advised the district administration and armed forces to instill sense of security amongst the denizens of the district and create conducive environment for all.

Exhorting the people to not to depend solely on the Government, Governor urged the people to help themselves in finding ways and means to address their challenges and problems. Governor emphasized on Rain water harvesting, use of non-conventional energy sources and harnessing nature's bounty.

Underscoring the importance of roads and other infrastructures for progress of the new district and its people, Governor emphasized on implementation of all projects as per specification and within time limit.

Highlighting education, Governor said that special attention has to be given in this sector. Advising the public leaders and elites to explore possibilities of inviting reputed educational institute like Ramakrishna Mission School or Sarada Mission School in the district, Governor said that people have to work together for well-being of the next generation and create favourable upbringing.

Governor, who visited to the Community Health Centre, Longding immediately after his arrival at the district headquarters stressed on preventive health care and awareness. He appreciated the efforts of the Government to contain epidemic in the district.  Stating that Arunachal Pradesh reflects true secular spirit, Governor called upon the people to strengthen the truly secular character of the State, where all religions are practised with respect and reverence for followers of other religions.

State Minister for Water Resource Development, Social Welfare, Women and Child Development Newlai Tingkhatra briefed the Governor on the district. He highlighted on various challenges and potentials of the district.

Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Public Relations and Printings, Thangwang Wangham and Parliamentary Secretary for Horticulture Honchun Ngandam also spoke on the occasion. Longding District Zilla Parishad Chairperson Phezon Wangsa submitted a three point memorandum to the Governor.

A colourful cultural programme was presented on the occasion by the village cultural troupes and school children.

CS calls for collective efforts for successful implementation of school health prog

ITANAGAR, Dec 20: The state level review meeting with stakeholders for Adolescent Health Programme under National Rural Health Mission was held at Banquet Hall here today.

Presiding over the meeting, Chief Secretary, H K Paliwal appreciated the good efforts of department of Health and WCD in implementing the school health programme and stressed on preventive and curative activities while implementing this programme in state.

Screening of drugs addictions must be included in the school health programme, he added.

"School Health Programme is not only the job of health department," he said and called for collective efforts of  all the departments to achieve the goal of school health programme. He particularly, urged the WCD and education departments to cooperate and work together to achieve the goals.  He also urged the participants to work with unison to bring the objective into reality.

Earlier, the P.N. Thungon, Mission Director (NRHM) explained the objective  of the meeting saying that the "Review Meeting was urgent for better understanding and convergence of School Health Programme (SHP) under NRHM".

Shalini Varma, Secretary, WCD highlighted the various programmes and schemes sponsored by Govt. of India under the department of Women & Child Development. She also emphasized the need of convergence for successful implementation of School Health Programmes at the grass root level. Power point presentation on Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) and Weekly Iron and Folic Acid Supplementation (WIFS) programme and details of its implementation was presented by Dr. Amping Perme, Nodal Officer (Adolescent Health).

Indra Mallo, Secretary (Health & FW) said that IFA tablets for School Health Programme will not be an issue under School Health Programme. She requested the department of WCD to submit the detail list of Anganwadi Centres from all the districts. She has  also directed all the DMOs to conduct the convergence - review meeting with other line department from time to time.

The meeting was attended, among others,  by Director of School Education, Director of WCD, Director of Health Services, DMOs, DRCHOs and other senior officers and staffs of the Mission Directorate and District Programme Management Supporting Units (NRHM), according to an official release.

 

 

LDV DC visits remote areas

ROING, Dec 20: Deputy Commissioner of Lower Dibang Valley District, Shiv Kumar, made two days visit to the remote circles under Dambuk Sub-Division to take stock of the implementation of various schemes under the departments of education, health, agriculture, horticulture, electrical, PHED, WRD and others. During his visit to Community Health Centres at Dambuk and Primary Health Centres at Anpum, he enquired about the problems and the difficulties faced by the staffs in discharging their duties. While assuring to provide medicines at the two sub-centres separately from the untied fund, he asked the MO in charge to give the list of medicines required at the earliest so that it can be purchased and delivered to them before the rainy season. The problem faced in both the Health Centres are the shortage of staff quarters and shortage of medicines during rainy season as the communication remains cut off.

He also visited Residential School (Hostel) at Paglam, Bizari and Dambuk run by an NGO. He expressed dissatisfaction over the numbers of hostellers admitted in the hostels especially at Bizari which is much below the requisite numbers. He asked the Administrative Officers to regularly monitor the functioning of the residential schools saying that he wants to make these schools a model schools in the area and the benefit provided by the Govt. for the children must reach to them in toto. He also asked the education department to create awareness about the residential schools among the general masses and to ensure that school is run properly and requisite numbers of students are admitted in the hostel.

While interacting with the teachers in his visit to Govt. Secondary School at Paglam, Govt Secondary School at Bizari, Middle School at Tapat and Govt Hr Secondary School at Dambuk, DC asked them to motivate the students so that they may like to study harder. Wondering about the deteriorating CBSE result of Dambuk Higher Secondary School over the last two years, he asked the teachers to make some extra efforts and to maintain the good record of the school that has produced many doctors, engineers and officers in the past. He further assured to immediately post a subject teacher of History as an internal arrangement on demand of Bedang Apum, SMC Chairman of GHSS Dambuk who submitted a memorandum to the DC regarding shortage of History and Chemistry teacher. He also requested the SMC members and PRI Leaders to take interest in the proper functioning of the schools and to take action against irregular teachers.

Deputy Commissioner also assured to provide furniture (bench and desk) to various Govt. schools from untied fund.  

DC also inspected the Bridge Construction site at Zero Point Sisiri River at Dambuk, under-construction ADC office building and also the bridges construction site along Dambuk-Paglam road under CRF. He also inspected the Flood Protection Site and road damaged site at Loklung Village.

Earlier, the DC inaugurated a three days programme on community training cum social mobilization to SMCs and PRIs on various SSA and RTE issues at Govt Secondary School at Paglam organized by SSA District Mission, Roing, Lower Dibang Valley District.

MHRD team submits report on MDMS

ITANAGAR, Dec 20: A team comprising members from the union human resource development ministry (MHRD) and the Hyderabad-based National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) that recently conducted a review of the implementation of the Midday Meal Scheme (MDMS) in 42 schools across Lower Subansiri and East Siang districts has made a series of recommendations including conducting monthly reviews of the scheme's implementation at district and state levels. The team, led by NIN assistant director Dr Hari Kumar, submitted the report of its findings to the GoAP during a meeting with education commissioner KR Meena and officers of the secondary and elementary education directorates on Thursday. The team's recommendations include, inter alia, strengthening the monitoring mechanism at all levels; setting up grievance redressal mechanisms down to the grassroots level; regular inspection of schools; improving the nutritional value of the meals being served in the schools; improving the environmental sanitation in school kitchens; constructing new toilets and repairing old ones; motivating school authorities to use double fortified salt; and providing emergency medical kits at schools. The education commissioner assured to take necessary actions based on the findings, and expressed hope that visible changes would be made within the next 2-3 months. Elementary education director Bodong Yirang, who supervised the tour programme, also assured that steps based on the recommendation would taken with renewed zeal. DDSE Monya Nyori had represented the state as a member of the team.

 

 

Traffic wardens at cross road

ITANAGAR, Dec 20: The capital traffic warden also popularly known as Itanagar Traffic Warden is backbone behind managing the chaotic traffic situation of capital complex. Stationed in various strategic traffic points at Itanagar, these traffic wardens numbering around 75 have completely changed the scenario. Under the guidance of Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) traffic cell, they have brought in some sanctity among reckless drivers of capital.

However today these traffic wardens are facing identity crisis and are battling against all odds to sustain their life. Whether it is winter, summer, raining or blazing sun they work hard to ensure that citizens remain safe.

"We work for 6 hours, with morning shift from 8 am to 2 pm and evening from 2 pm to 8 pm. We do not get any holiday and if we take holiday our salary is deducted. Our salary is only Rs 4300 per month. Our condition is very pathetic," shared one of the traffic wardens. He further added, "Today we are at a cross-road. We were recruited under the supervision of the then DIG (Traffic) Robin Hibu and placed under control of ADM capital complex.  Our recruitment process was of very high standard and first batch of Itanagar Traffic Warden was given one month training at police training centre (PTC), Banderdewa. We appeared written exam followed by viva-voice and lastly physical test. At that time we were made to believe that in the long run, we will be either absorbed or given preference in future police recruitment. However nothing has materialized yet and now we are confused about our future."

The most shocking part is that these traffic wardens are not given any security or insurance coverage. "Everyone is aware that streets of Itanagar are filled with many rogue drivers. Many a times they attempt to physically assault us during duty time. As we are not regular police personnel, we can't arrest them and often have to somehow save ourselves. Govt should alteast provide us insurance and security coverage," pleaded another traffic warden. He also added that apart from the ill treatment meted out to them in street by rogue drivers, they often get humiliated by Govt. agencies too.

"During VIP visits and big events organized in various parts of Itanagar we are engaged to manage traffic. We stands whole day but authorities do not even bother to offer us cup of tea or bottle of water. Just because we are working as contractual traffic wardens, we are treated like second class citizen. It really saddens us as we give best putting our own life at risk," he continued. Two months ago these traffic warden had written to Parliamentary Secretary (home) appealing for enhancement of salary and placement under home department. The letter was forwarded to DGP office and it is alleged that police refuse to act upon it citing that they did not recruit traffic warden. Many of the traffic wardens who were pursuing education at school and college level have dropped out in the hope that this job will give them better future. The state govt. in particular home department should look into their grievances and offer helping hand.

 

 

Road connectivity and flood prime concern of Dambuk people

ROING, Dec 20: Tokbom Saring, Anchal Chairperson Dambuk in a memorandum submitted to the Deputy Commissioner stated that the BRTF could not provide tangible progress in the road connectivity despite 23 years of its establishment and start of work in the Sub-Division.

In a meeting with the Roing DC during his visit to Dambuk sub-division, Saring said that spill over bridge at Sisiri River along Dambuk-Aohali road constructed by the M/S Singla and Company that has started during August/September 2009 is still far from completion. He further lamented that the assurance of the BRTF to construct a temporary bailey bridge over Sisiri River by December 15 is not yet started. "By making such empty assurance, BRTF is losing their credibility", he adds. He further said that the non-issue of forest clearance or NOC by the department of forest for construction of approach road towards the bridge site from both sites of river is beyond the comprehension of general public as the area does not falls within forest reserved area. He requested the Deputy Commissioner to look into the matter seriously and take up the matters with the higher authorities.

He further requested line departments to cooperate and implement the developmental activities that comes under notified 29 subjects of Panchayat through the supervision, control and administration of the Panchayat. He also requested to implement 80 per cent of the Non-Border Area Development Programme Fund  through the Panchayat. He requested to provide Rs 20 Lacs for demarcation of new township area as the area proposed/kept for the new township is being encroached by the people and also asked for provision of a fire brigade station at Dambuk Sub-Division.

Kirti Linggi, ASM Bizari appealed the PWD department to repair and maintained the log bridges along Dambuk-Paglam road till the permanent bridges are completed as the road serves as the only means of communication in rainy season for the people of Bizari. He also requested to depute doctors to visit the area for health check ups at least twice a month.

The people also demanded for provision of buffer stock of rice before March in the Sub-Division informing that this year crop fails due to scanty rainfalls.

At Paglam, Tamo Mibang, CO informed that the Paglam Circle is being threatened by flood every year and the very existence of the circle is in danger if no immediate flood protection measures are taken up. He also informed 60 quintals of rice provided by the Govt during flood is still lying in his office store, he requested the FPS holders to lift the rice immediately and distribute it to the people. Public and Gaon Burahs also spoke about the recurring flood in the area and demanded for provision of fund of around Rs 20 Lacs to divert the Dotung river to the mainstream of Dibang River for the timebeing.

Responding to the demand of the people, Deputy Commissioner assured to provide buffer stock of rice before March to the Dambuk Sub-Division. He also asked the AE WRD to make proper survey of the river and prepare an estimate accordingly to divert the Dotung river to the Mainstream of Dibang river. Meanwhile, K Pertin, AE (WRD) informed that proposal for flood protection scheme for Paglam has already been sent to the Govt.

M. Lego, DAO apprised the people about the schemes being implemented under the department of agriculture. R Ratan, DFCSO also apprise the people about the functioning of PDS and FPS. While, N Modi, EE (Power) informed that construction works of the 33 KV Power Line from Mebo to Dambuk via Aohali would be completed by March 2014.  DIPRO

 

 

Poultry birds distributed to beneficiaries

ITANAGAR, Dec 20: The Papum Pare Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) organized a day-long awareness camp on poultry bird rearing and distribution of poultry units under the Sponsorship of National Research Centre on Mithun (NRC-M), Medziphema, Nagaland yesterday.

Altogether, 40 farmers of Mani, Chiputa, Midpu under Doimukh circle belonging to "Mithun Farmer club Rami Shei ' got benefit of the programme.

Animal Husbandry and Veterinary director Dr Hage Tabin, other senior officers of the department distributed poultry birds (20 pullets per beneficiary) to farmers on the occasion. After distribution of Vana Raja birds to all beneficiaries, Dr. Hage Tabin in his key note address assured all necessary service delivery support from the department. He further advised the farmers to rear the Van Raja birds properly which can produce more eggs as well as meat to address the malnutrition. Also present on the occasion were Dr. T. Taku (Dy Director) and Dr. K. Basar (DIO).

Heli, Programme Co-ordinator of the Kendra said such innovative programme was organized for the first time in the state with joint efforts of the 3 stakeholders, namely, National Research Centre on Mithun (ICAR) Nagaland, KVK, Papum Pare and  department of animal husbandry and veterinary.

Further, he informed that the poultry birds (in pullet stage) being distributed to the beneficiary farmers of Doimukh area have been vaccinated against common infection disease, reared in Kendra poultry demo unit for more than 3 weeks and trained for backyard farming which can be adaptable at village condition.

Earlier Dr. N. Gama (Farm Manager) of the Kendra briefed the beneficiaries on poultry health and feeding aspects. He suggested them for cultivation of maize at large scale as it has high energy value and important feed ingredients for the poultry birds.

Yab Bola, chairman, Mithun Farmers club Rami Shei appreciated the efforts initiated by the KVK Papum Pare and requested the Director AH & Vety  to extend support to the Kendra to continue such beneficiary oriented programme in the district and state as a whole.

 

 

Children and teachers take out rally on sanitation at Bomdila

BOMDILA, Dec 20: A mass school rally on Water and Sanitation was organized today by department of the Public Health Engineer & WS Division Bomdila under Information Education and Communication (IEC) Programme in School as a part of (IEC) campaign.

More than, 500 School children and dozens of Teachers from seven Govt. and Non Govt. School and the PHED staffs have actively took part in rally defying the bone chilling weather of misty town. The rally was started with slogans like "Clean Bomdila, healthy Bomdila" "Stop Open Defecation" "One house one Toilet" and "Save Water, Safe life" etc. The procession covered almost all the streets of Bomdila Township.

Taking part in the rally, PHED Executive Engineer Bimal Welly acknowledged the support and contribution of school children and teaching staffs in sanitation campaign in the town. He said that efforts of school children and teaching fraternity are moral boost to the department in its year long campaign. The objective of the rally was to create an awareness and sense of responsiveness among the school children and general public of the district.

 

 

PHED conducts awareness tour on safe drinking water

ITANAGAR, Dec 20: In the midst of huge death toll in the far flung areas of the Longding District due to unknown reason/diseases, a team of Public Health and Water Supply Departmental staff of Tirap and Longding districts under the constant monitoring and supervision of Er. Likha Tekhi, Executive Engineer has visited all the household of every habitation to impart awareness on safe handling of drinking water.

A team consists of Er. S.K. Srivastav, AE, Doi Tarak, Chonai Wangpan, Lampang Wangsa,  Bogi Haider (all consultants), Block Co-ordinators and Laboratory Assistant of Tirap and Longding Districts have  demonstrated the procedure for testing the presence of harmful objects in drinking water including microbial contamination testing using H2S Strip/Field Test Kits(FTK), already provided to each Gram Panchayat previously. They also taught three convenient methods of disinfections; boiling of water, SODIS technology and chlorination of water, to the villagers and simultaneously distributed chlorine tablets and H2S microbial testing bottles.

As many as 1000 household have benefited. Further, house to house interaction were followed for maintaining personal and environmental hygiene like "NO" to open defecation, merit of construction of sanitary toilets, etc. The people were also advised to conserve water and water sources.

This exhausted but extensive tour to every habitations of the District was made in response to High Level meeting at the office chamber of state Chief Minister  recently and in collaboration with department's routine exercises under NRDWP and NBA programs.  DIPRO

 

 

Santi Deva Vidyalaya, Bomdila wins first position in state level science exhibition

ITANAGAR, Dec 20: Priya Singh, Santi Deva Vidyalaya, Bomdila, West Kameng district stood over all first in the State Level Science Exhibition-2013 held at the Govt. Higher Secondary School Library Hall, Itanagar on Dec 18. Master Agam Lego, VKV, Roing, bagged the second position and Kiyum Padu, VKV, Jirdin, West Siang secured 3rd position.

The State Level Science Exhibition-2013 was organized by Directorate of Secondary Education, GoAP in collaboration with NCERT, New Delhi on the topic - "Scientific and Mathematical Innovations" under five sub-theme - Agriculture, Health, Resource, Environment and  Energy.

In addition to above, top rankers of four attended sub-theme have been selected for participation in the National Level Science Exhibition to be held on 7th January 2014 at Kolkata. They are Mst. Sanehadeep Bhowmik, GHSS, Tezu,  Mst. Gokul R, VKV, Itanagar, Mst Jamlar Kojam, EMRS, Bana, East Kameng and  Mst. Anurag Sundaran, VKV, Amliang, Anjaw district. Altogether 18 students from 11 districts participated in the exhibition which was judged by the three judges from Rajiv Gandhi Govt. Polytechnic College, Itanagar.

DLMC reviews implementation of centrally sponsored schemes

ANINI, Dec 20: The 12th District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) meeting was held in the office chamber of Deputy Commissioner, Dibang Valley District here on 19th December.

The progress and achievement made in implementation of various centrally sponsored schemes under ACA, SPA, NEC, NLCPR, RIDF, BADP, PM Package etc. by different executing agencies were discussed in the meeting which was presided over by Tamune Miso, DC cum Chairperson.

Addressing the meeting, DC asked all the Departments including Horticulture, Agriculture, DRDA, DDSE to submit the monthly progress report in time. Physical verification of the major schemes under various departments shall be carried out along with his supporting officers, executing agencies and the beneficiaries, he said.  The DC also asked the DPO to carry out the proceeding.  DC, however, expressed dissatisfaction to observe that some of the  officers were absent  in the  important meeting.

The DPDO, AE of PWD, RWD, PHED, UPO UD & Housing, officers from NHPC, DAO, PO APEDA, APO DRDA, BDOs, CDPOs and other officers  shared their views on the achievement, progress and problems faced by the agencies. Emphasis were made on the projects of JNV buildings where executing agency (UD & Housing)  waiting for the JNV authority to come and visits the site and release the remaining amount at the earliest so that project could be completed in time.

The house expressed their dissatisfaction over the JNV authority for delaying in release of remaining fund to the executing agency. The schools buildings, hostels both boys and girls including kitchen are in pathetic condition. DIPRO

Money is weighing heavily on morality

Dear Editor,

In our state poor is becoming poorer and rich are getting richer. More people are getting into crime world to earn money through evil means. No doubt, money is an essential, almost indispensable article in the present day. It is the ‘money’ through which we can purchase all the necessary comforts and amenities of life. If you have money, you can get what seems impossible to others. It is the money which gives man the confidence, credentials, capacity, capabilities and courage.

In the present day in our state rampant corruption, increase crime rate, callous degradation of moral and ethical values are all happening for the sake of grabbing and accumulating more and more money. The prestige, respect, social status, commanded by a person is calculated as per his monetary status. Time has gone, when we valued a person in evaluation of his moral and ethical values. Money has become the centre of all activities. Money and muscle power have become essential ingredients of a successful political leader. Money is regarded as omnipotent by a few people, particularly by the poor. As whatever one does not possess, one aspires it badly, and it becomes mono aim of achievement. For the rich, that own lots of money, still craving to earn more and more, by hook or crook, with fair or foul means, without caring even for their own health and own family. They are mad about money, but someday a time will come when they find themselves unable to use the money for their happiness. They are unable to eat, unable to taste the most delicious dish, unable to move, walk or enjoy because they suffers from many diseases which are the result of their undue crave for wealth at the cost of health. Can one purchase anything with the power of money? No, one cannot. You cannot purchase inner satisfaction with money, you cannot purchase the lost youthfulness with money and you cannot purchase time from the death at any cost. Those who earn money simply to have more money, more balance in their accounts are no better than poor people. Money is important for our life, but it is not the most important thing for a human being. Those who use money for fulfilling their necessities, acquiring reasonable comforts and also for the welfare of common people, for the society etc are the masters of money. But those who earn money by criminal mean and cutting off the development fund etc are slave of the money. They are the most unfortunate creatures of God who know well that whatever money they are earning by without work such as political leaders, officers, contractors, etc can’t take along even an iota of that when they die, though they are minting more and more money. . Money can buy power, fame and sometimes even buy a life. What paradox, money has become their master and they are just slaves, having no peace of mind, no moral and ethical values, no inner satisfaction.

Ruksin-Mikong-Mirem road need urgent attention of authorities

Dear Editor,

Through the column of your esteemed daily we would like to draw the kind attention of concern authority regarding stagnancy in the development of linkage road. Being a responsible citizen it is part and parcel of our moral duty to raise the voice, highlight the problems and claim right for the inhabitants on their behalf. In this context we would focus particularly on Ruksin-Mikong-Mirem (RMM) road situated in 37 assembly constituency under East Siang district.

The concern road forms the life line of people and is the solitary road connecting area to the rest of state. However this stretch of road has been in deplorable condition since last two decades and remained a trivial issue for the authority concern. Indeed RMM road becomes fish fond in rain session and there is hardly any vehicle seen plying on this road. The said road is in worst condition since many years. Neither MLA, local leaders, VIPs nor concerned department officials is taking any step to maintain this road. Taking into consideration the deteriorating road condition there is a very big question mark on our economic growth and even on our survival..

It is demand of the people to the authority concern to look into this matter seriously and take solid and positive step with immediate effect in this regards as to erase this problem at the earliest.

Launch state wide campaign for fire safety

In yet another major fire incident seven houses have been burnt down to ashes by a devastating fire in Banskota area, opposite Pasighat Vijaya Bank on Thursday night leaving about 100 people homeless. As the winter approaches, the fire incident alarmingly rises across the state. However what is worrying factor is that authorities do not seem to learn anything from such incident.

Especially in rural areas, where people mostly reside in traditional dwelling house made of bamboo, the chances of fire incident is more. The concern authorities, especially disaster management department and fire service cell of police should carry out awareness campaign on fire safety. The village Panchayat members should be made part of the campaign for better coordination at grass root level. For successful campaign, in urban areas the schools and colleges should be targeted. If children are properly educated about fire safety, they can go on to teach their parents. The govt. has to take help of media to launch vigorous campaign throughout the state. If proper steps are not taken at this juncture, the fire incident will continue to haunt us in the future too.
